This traditional applique quilt block is designed on the popular Baltimore style quilt blocks. Traditional applique for the embroidery machine has been used for all the applique pieces of the block. There are no raw edges on the applique pieces and an almost invisible embroidery stitch is used to hold the applique pieces in place. Once the applique section is done, the block is then quilted. There is no stitching other than the quilting that shows on the underside of the block. This gives the traditional feel of applique and quilting to this block. Additional fabric is left around the block so you can easily put it together using the quilt as you go method. This block measures 13” by 13” once the quilting is done. This does not include the additional fabric around the block for putting blocks together. The block is done using multi hooping or placement. Our technique will guide you easily through the placement. The traditional applique used in this block is based on the paper piecing method but with a twist. The embroidery applique and quilting stitching is minimal. A bit of time is required to prepare the applique pieces and to prepare the block for the frame placement. The end result is a lovely large block that looks like it was made using the traditional method but done in a fraction of the time.
